<p>The health effects of drinking pure, fresh water seem to be ignored by a fair amount of people.</p>
<p>If we don&#8217;t keep our body supplied with enough water we will be in trouble.</p>
<p>Water is needed by our body to help it perform many functions. Besides, two thirds of our body consists of water.</p>
<p>About 80% of the North American population is  dehydrated. To remedy this, drinking coffee at Starbuck&#8217;s and Tim Horton&#8217;s is not going to work. Coffee, Cola and soft drinks will not raise the water levels in our body. Actually they contribute to dehydration.</p>
<p>Did you know that when we feel thirsty we are actually already dehydrated?</p>
<p>So, you ask, what is all that water necessary for? What will it do for us?</p>
<ul>
<li>Water is needed to digest our food and for the body to absorb nutrients</li>
<li>Water is needed to detoxify the liver and kidneys</li>
<li>water is needed to carry away body waste</li>
<li>The digestive system cannot work without water</li>
<li>Fiber cannot work all by itself but needs water</li>
<li>When we do not drink enough water we will become constipated.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Water and Weight oss</strong></p>
<p>Water is essential for losing weight and even more important to keep the weight off. It is a natural appetite suppressor and metabolizes the fat that is stored in the body. It has been determined through studies that when we drink more water less fat will stay in the body. But if we decrease our intake of water more fat will be deposited.</p>
<p>There is a reason for this:</p>
<p>Without enough water being available the kidneys cannot function properly. They will not be able to manage all the fat. This will now be carried to the next &#8220;Waste station&#8221; the liver. The liver is supposed to metabolize the fat and turn it into energy the body can use.  If the liver gets too much fat delivered it might not be able to process all of it and it will store the excess fat in the body.</p>
<p>So you can see that when we drink more water less fat will stay in the body. But if we decrease our water intake we&#8217;ll just cause more fat to stay in our body.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re not told to drink a lot of water just for the fun of it after all.</p>
