Approximately one in six people, in North-America suffer with arthritis. It’s a degenerative disease of any, or all joints. Arthritis is commonly seen as a disease of the elderly. It is true that it is often caused by the wear and tear of the joint tissues, as we age. But, it can also be caused by injury, when we are young. But, even then arthritis might not manifest itself till years later.
Symptoms of arthritis are: Inflammation, stiffness, swelling, and pain. The joints, most often affected by Arthritis , are the knees, and hips. It can be very frustrating not to be able to do the things you’ve always enjoyed doing. And the constant pain can be very frustrating
There are many different ways to cope with the discomforts of arthritis. What works for one person might not work for another. A lot of it depends on peoples’ pain threshhold . But, it will also depend on the person’s disposition, and attitude.
Following is a list of some arthritis treatments which might help you to get some arthritis pain relief:
- Physical therapy
- Exercise to keep the joints from getting too stiff.
- Elastic support bandage.
- Ice, or heat for temporary relief
- Medication
- Acupuncture or acupressure.
There are also natural products available, which seem to work very well. I, myself switched from morphine to natural remedies, and haven’t taken a morphine tablet since last August. I’m very pleased with the results, and the extra benefit is that I’m more alert. I had been taking morphine for quite a few years, and didn’t realize the effect it had on me. Not till I stopped taken it. I had to wean myself off the morphine gradually, with my doctor’s help.
Divide exercising and resting evenly. If you take on a task that would have you move around for too long a time, just do half, take a rest, and then complete the job.
Also, sitting for too long will make it much harder for you to get up again. I try to not sit any longer than about half an hour. And even then my knee joint starts feeling stiff. So, one thing that helps is use a LazBoy chair, and put my feet up. But I keep moving my legs every few minutes or so. I will pull up my legs, so my knees are bent. Then, after a minute or so I’ll stretch them again. I keep alternating between the two.
And remember to not dwell on the things you cannot do, but just enjoy all the things you’re still able to do.
If you suffer from arthritis I Urge you to go to:
and get rid of your pain.
